Gabriela Tilevitz, LCSW, CST, SIFI
I am a partner, a parent, a sibling, a child, a friend, a dog mom, and a recovering perfectionist who happens to practice psychotherapy in Brooklyn, New York. Growing up in a stringent religious environment there was tons of pressure to fit a mold and little room to be yourself without judgment. It became clear to me, from a very young age, that I was never going to fit into the boxes that my community was trying to put me in, and I want to help others navigate their way out of those boxes too.
I am a somatically based trauma informed practitioner, meaning I use modalities that address both the mind and body to help you develop a more integrated sense of self. My style can be described as warm, but direct; I offer a compassionate and empathetic ear, but I also try to strike a balance between encouraging you to go deeper and meeting you where you are at. I will help you identify the themes and patterns that might be causing internal distress, blocking you from the life you want or having the relationships you desire. I value collaboration as essential to encouraging the micromovements that will lead you towards a path of healing. And while my relationship with every client is different, I find that adding a dash of humor is at times necessary in finding a sense of relief.
I do not have a one size fits all approach to therapy. I am a person-centered and strengths based practitioner who truly believes in collaborating with my clients to support their healing and growth. Using modalities that address both the mind and body, I hope to facilitate the micromovements that lead you to feeling like you are living the most authentic version of yourself. Some examples of evidence based practices that I may use with clients are CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Somatic Experiencing, IFS, EMDR and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
